You probably have came across many sites which laid out with absurd ideas and you first impression is that those sites will be a flop. Most of those sites with crazy ideas did became failed sites but surprisingly some did turn out to be successfully sites and in fact generate large sum of money for its owners or founders.

1. Million Dollar Homepage sold out for a million dollar

Create a page with a million pixel image. Sell each pixel for one dollar each. Easy way to earn $1,000,000. Sounds stupid? Meet Alex Tew. He was 21 when he came up with this idea. In start people thought, It was a joke. All pixels are now sold and the guy is selling Posters and made a brand out of it.

From there one, many sites starting to copy the ideas and you will noticed sites such as MillionPage, MillionBlog, MillionURL, MillionPageViews and so on.

2. Santa Mail made a million dollar online

Byron Reese Started his company, SantaMail.org, which sells fully personalized letters from Santa Claus all across North America (they’re even postmarked from North Pole, Alaska, to give them an authentic feeling). Reese sold 10,000 letters in 2001, his first year in business. Though holiday sales have increased every subsequent year, he still looked for ways to expand his offering. Now, parents can order birthday cards for their children from Santa as well. The strategy pushed 2005 sales to $1 million.

Before that, most probably branded Byron's ideas as stupid because they thought will Santa Claus ever going to receive or reply those mail from children.
