Choosing right blogging identity or real name

right blogging identityBlogging can a long term affair once you are hooked into it. Depending on your passion of writing and consuming information and feedbacks, you could be into blogging for years.

As such, it is very crucial to choose the right identity for your blog, in short deciding when to blog under your real name. I'm referring to both blog's name and topic or theme. During your Internet surfing sessions, you would have encountered or noticed some blogs with personal name or blogs name related to a topics.

For example, Anwar Ibrahim blog titled www.anwaribrahimblog.com, John Chow blog title www.johnchow.com, Pro Blogger titled www.problogger.net and so on.

Now, you have ideas for your blog name and what kind of topics you are going to publish. But wait. Being new to blogging, you need to be aware that certain topics can be very sensitive such Politic and if you are into politic and like to bash other people ideology, it better that you don't use your real name as your blog name. Why ? Because, people from all sides will attack your articles and if your are not prepared (or don't have the time) you will probably not able to fend those attacks.

Take a few politician personal blogs for example, Anwar Ibrahim or Lim Kit Siang. These two personality use their real name because they are a heavy weight in politic. They dare to post anything they like and they dare to be accountable for their post.

If you are just into blogging and do not have indepth knowledge on politic, it better to conceal your real name and substitute it with a pseudo name. While we are at name topic, check out How to choose a good blog name or How To Choose Catchy Blog Name.

If you are just going to ramble on general topics, then it is okay to use your real name as your blog name or ID.

Experts also suggest that bloggers can used their real name when they need an identity and fame, aware that they are open to compliments and flame but recognize that for free discussion, they are ready without fear of blame.

Blogging under a pseudonym is a also a great way to separate your blog life from your real life. This can be especially important if you would prefer not to involve your employer.

Sure, it's no guarantee of anonymity, but they fact you make the effort to separate those two aspects of your life helps you choose the appropriate role.
